Church of St John the Baptist.
B ere Regis itself is a fine example of an quaint English town set in
stunningly beautiful countryside, glorious with traditional thatched cottages, many fine walks and local
interest such as the Church of John the Baptist , the resting place of Thomas Hardy's tragic heroine
Tess of the D’Urbervilles.
There is an iron age fort near the town and in the immediate area is Tolpuddle, home of the Tolpuddle
Martyrs and the Dorset home of Lawrence of Arabia.
